Agreed Report B.O.M. meeting November

Child Protection

The board adopted the updated Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment.

They also completed an annual review of child safeguarding practices in the school: all of the above will be published on the school’s website.

The updated Child Safeguarding Statement will be displayed at the entrance to the school and in every classroom.

School Improvement Plan

The board ratified the self-evaluation report and the improvement plan for this academic year: we will complete our focus on comhra Gaeilge, gather more evidence with regard to pupil wellbeing and complete at least one S.T.E.M. project per term in every class.

The digital learning plan was also ratified for this year with a continued investment in digital technology by the board, staff sharing expertise and resources with an emphasis on formative assessment and digital safety. Communication from school to home will be enhanced through facebook, regular updates on the website and the use of see-saw and class do-jo.

Placement

The board was pleased to hear that the final year Mary I students were a great asset to the school for their 10-week placement and also that the T.Y. students were working well on their work experience week.

Parents Association

The board is hoping that the Parent’s Council will be appointed in January: it is very important that there are good home school links and that parent’s voices are heard.

Building Project

Revised plans for the 2class S.E.N. base have been submitted to the Department’s Technical team: we are awaiting their response and will apply for planning as soon as we get the go ahead.

The ESB have begun preliminary work on installing 3 phase electricity supply to the school.

The staff car park is proving very useful and has eased traffic to the front of the school: the board wish to acknowledge the great co-operation between the GAA and the school.

Assembly

Huge congratulations to former past pupil Jane Buckley from Gurranes Templemartin who attended a school assembly to celebrate her wonderful achievement in winning the All-Ireland cross country championships. Jane will go on to represent Ireland in the European championships in Dublin on December12th.
